Windows: Soluto is a great tool for speeding up your system boot time and fixing slowdowns, but it also has a few lesser-known features and uses. One of them is remote hardware monitoring. You can find out the temperature of a system simply by logging into the webapp.
As part of its troubleshooting toolset, Soluto gathers information about your computer's hardware. Killer Tech Tips points out that if you click on the small arrow beside the CPU reading and the motherboard reading, you'll see a temperature meter. This might be useful in cases where you have a server in a closet or another room and you want to get a quick read to make sure the system isn't overheating. You can even issue a defragmentation command remotely that will happen when the system is idle.
There are a few other hidden uses for Soluto suggested by Killer Tech Tips, including using it to skip the Windows 8 tiled start screen and switch to classic desktop every time you log in. (While there are several other utilities to ditch the start screen in Windows 8, if you're using Soluto anyway, might as well kill the two birds with one stone.)
